Science at Cranbourne West Secondary College is structured to deliver the learning outcomes of the Victorian Curriculum.

Science is a dynamic, collaborative and creative human endeavour developing from our desire to make sense of our world by exploring the unknown, investigating universal mysteries, making predictions and solving problems.

Students are introduced into the field of Science where they develop their practical skills and their understanding of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Space Science.

Some of the topics that are covered in include:

  • Laboratory skills and safety
  • States of matter, mixtures and chemical changes
  • Living things and how they interact with their environment
  • Forces and different forms of energy
  • How the Sun, Earth and Moon interact

Practical investigations are an integral part of learning Science at Cranbourne West Secondary College. The hands-on experience students gain by testing and observing concepts in action allow for a deeper understanding of each topic. It also allows the opportunity for problem-solving and collaborative learning.
